Sony's bracelet to help users recall names of people

A recent patent application by Sony reveals a bracelet that recognizes voices to help users remember names of people they meet. Now this bracelet can save you from awkwardness of skipping names of people you meet less often. The patent mentions recording a voice which it recognizes later and help you remember his/her name.

Most of the people easily remember a face, but it’s hard to remember a person’s name due to our hearing memory is less than our visual memory. After all we all are human not robot. We came across so many people, especially in workplace. So to remember all name is a daunting task. Sometime we find it tough to recall the name of a person but can identify the face easily. Which results into an embarrassing moment for all of us most of the time.  All these silly mistakes can’t be avoided in professional work. Sometime it cost you a lot.

So now you don’t need to worry about remembering the names of people. You can easily recall it with the help of this bracelet made by Sony.

How it works
1.       The bracelet starts recording when it detects a handshake- like movement.
2.        It can detect when a person says his name while in a conversation & stores the sound profile with the associated name on the user’s smartphone. It saves the profile by writing his name as profile’s title.
3.       Next time when you again meet the same person and skips his name, the bracelet comes to your rescue.

4.       As that person speaks, On hearing a previously stored voice, the name of the person is displayed on the smartphone screen. And just in case, you are wearing a Bluetooth headset, you would hear his name.

Other than the bracelet, the patent mentions that same technology could be employed in Sony’s smart watches or in its earpieces.

Coca-Cola’s new ‘selfie bottle’

Coca-Cola has unveiled the ‘selfie bottle’ – which automatically takes photos when it detects a 70-degree tilt, and you can transfer photos through its USB port.

If the selfie stick wasn’t enough to satisfy your social media addiction, you can now take self-portraits using a “selfie bottle” from Coke.
Even better, you can share the photos of yourself enjoying a Coke on Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat.
The product was developed by Coca-Cola itself after its Israeli branch spotted a gap in the market for novelty drinks.

The extravagant selfie camera was devised as part of the Coca-Cola Summer Love campaign – Israel’s largest outdoor brand event.

Gefen Team, who tested it this summer, told Gizmodo: ‘It really did the trick and made the party goers more present and active during the event knowing they could share their special moments just by drinking.

‘This way, the participants could capture and share their moment without pausing the fun, so drinking Coca-Cola really does make every moment special.’
There’s no mention of a release date yet, so for the moment you’ll have to wait before you can share you drinking with the world.

This isn’t the first time Coca-Cola has ventured into building tech accessories. Earlier this year, the beverage titan showed off an experiment that aimed to recycle old Coke bottles into legitimate virtual reality headsets.

With the ‘selfie bottle’, Coca-Cola has come up with yet another way to make you feel good about yourself as you’re sipping your health away. But hey: At least you can leisurely catch it on cam now.
It’s unclear as of yet where the bottle will be sold and how much it will cost. But perhaps Coke is headed in the right direction with this gimmick: Soda sales in general have been on the decline, falling by 1.5% in 2015 and by 1% in 2014, according to the Beverage Marketing Corporation. Americans are instead turning to bottled water, whose sales are expected to outpace those of soda next year.

Humanity might not need a selfie bottle, but it at least take photos from good angle.

chinese scientists edit human genes for the first time

Chinese scientist have become the first in the world to inject a person with cells that have been genetically edited using the revolutionary CRISPR–Cas9 technique.
The trial involved modifying a patient's own immune system cells to make them more effective at combating cancer cells and then injecting them back into the patient.
Chinese oncologists at Sichuan University insert CRISPR-modified cells into a patient suffering from an aggressive form of lung cancer, according to nature. Gene-editing could improve the ability of immune cells to attack cancer.

What is CRISPR-cas9 Technique?
CRISPR/Cas9 basically works like a pair of molecular scissors. Researchers just need to program it, and it can cut out certain genes - or add new ones - far more cheaply and quickly than any previous genetic tools.
The CRISPR-Cas9 "tool" is a DNA construct that can be injected into any organism—in this case, human immune system T cells—to modify the genome of that organism.
The introduction of CRISPR, which is simpler and more efficient than other techniques, will probably accelerate the race to get gene-edited cells into the clinic across the world, says Carl June, , who specializes in immunotherapy at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and led one of the earlier studies.

HOW IT WORKS?
Step1-An RNA sequence guides the CRISPR construct to the correct part of the organism's DNA.
Step2-The Cas9 enzyme "cuts out" that segment of DNA.
Step3- A new DNA sequence can be inserted to replace the deleted segment of the genome.
The gene that was turned off codes for a protein called PD-1, which usually slows down a cell's immune response, allowing cancer to grow out of control.
These PD-1-free immune cells were then cultured in the lab and injected back into the patient. The aim is that they'll now proliferate in the patient's body and attack and destroy cancerous cells.

IS THIS PROCESS SAFE?
The journal reports that this first round of treatment in a safety trial went well enough to warrant a second injection of the Cas9-edited cells, and that nine more people will undergo the treatments in the future. From there, the patients will be monitored for at least six months, if not longer, to "determine whether the injections are causing serious adverse effects."
The team will also watch them beyond that time to see if they seem to be benefiting from the treatment.
"I think this is going to trigger 'Sputnik 2.0,' a Biomedical duel on progress between China and the United States. United States medical scientists also plan to use CRISPR as an experimental treatment for cancer patients in early 2017.
CRISPR is emerging as a precise and cost-effective way to battle some of the most deadly forms of cancer.

India's First Banking Robot "LAKSHMI" Unveiled

India’s first banking robot called Lakshmi has made her formal debut on Thursday in Chennai city. This is a powerful artificial intelligence powered robot and reportedly the first such on-site bank helper.

Kumbakonam-based City Union Bank launched the artificial intelligence powered robot and also plans to launch her in other branches.

What you need to know about ‘LAKSHMI’

1.      It took over six months for Lakshmi to be developed; she can intelligently answer on over 125 subjects.

2.      She can answer queries such account balance and the interest rates on home loans and many such queries related to the payments or possible charges which are incurred on the fixed deposit closures etc. Lakshmi has also been programmed for connecting to the core banking solutions to give out details about transaction history as well!

3.      She can give real-time updates of foreign exchange movement, interest rates at banks for various asset classes like educational, personal, two-wheeler, home loans or charges on deposits/withdrawals.

4.      Any sensitive financial information such as the account details are reportedly displayed discreetly onto the robot’s screen and this is not voiced.

5.      She can save work for three to four persons; the robot would be integrated with the bank's automation process.

6.      Lakshmi can currently speak English, gestures, turns around, and engages in a life-like manner in conversations.

7.      Unlike most robots, Lakshmi's speech isn't formal but more relaxed and casual.

8.      If Lakshmi can't answer a question, she asks the customer to contact the branch manager. The bank would collect all the questions Lakshmi was unable to answer and equip her with better data sets so that she can serve better.

9.      The artificial intelligence powered robot can continuously learn from customers; the more interactions with clients, the better the robot gets.

10.  Soon, she will also start speaking in Tamil.

City Union Bank plans for 25-30 robots deployed at its key branches by the end of 2016 if the robot proves a hit with the customers.

HDFC Bank is also experimenting with robots to answer queries and is testing a robot at its innovation lab.

Tesla Model S now has an all-glass roof option

You can now get a Tesla Model S with an all-glass roof.  If you're worried about how hot your car's interior will get will all that glassy real estate, remember Tesla claims their tinted glass blocks 98 percent of UV rays and 81 percent of heat, and drivers can always use their smartphone to turn on the AC before you even get back to the car. It is designed to give passengers a wide open view of the sky, as well as the feeling of “an open expansive cabin” inside the Model S.

Solar City might want to make the most out of the roof on your house, but Tesla wants to remove those barriers between you and the sun entirely.
So the car’s interior won’t become a sweltering oven with all that exposure to the sun.
The glass roof option will cost new Tesla owners a cool $1,500 over the base model, and does away with the plain sunroof entirely. If you need a roof rack or satellite radio, however, you'll still have to go with the $2,000 panoramic option.

This new roof will run from the A-pillars to the rear hatch, giving the front and rear riders unimpeded views of the sky. Previously, the Model S had only two roof options: a solid roof and a panoramic sunroof.

The all-glass roof even goes beyond the sedan’s existing panoramic sunroof option by completely removing the center crossbar.

The Tesla Model S and Model X P90D are gone, but there's a new glass rooTESLA CAR BLAST.TESLA CAR ACCIDNET.TESLA AUTO PILOT MODE CAR GOT SMASHED IN AN ACCIDENT.f

BMW's new smart motorcycle concept won't need a helmet

BMW'S new new Motorrad Vision Next 100 concept motorcycle would supposedly be so smart that you wouldn't need a helmet, or even a padded suit.

special features

1.  Zero-emissions bike concept has self-balancing wheels    designed to stand upright even at a complete stop

2.The bike can be steered without the various joints found on  today's motorcycles, by turning the handlebar

3.Riders can interact with the bike through a pair of data  glasses, that cover the wearer's entire field of vision

4.Unlike a conventional motorbike, the Vision Next 100 doesn’t use suspension (damping is taken care of by the tyres), but instead mounts the wheels and frame as one "Flexframe" unit.

5. The stablization technology also means it doesn't require a stand when parked.

Designed for the Motorrad Vision Next 100, the rider would wear a special visor that provides wind protection but also displays useful information, kind of like Google Glass. Responding to eye movements, the rider can call up a rear view image, navigation, or telemetry for the bike, with its suggested banking, throttle and steering angles. The visor also displays emergency information, warning the rider of impending collisions.
For the frame, BMW came up with a flexible architecture where the entire structure of the bike helps steer it. And although the electric drive unit doesn't need pistons, BMW replicates its classic boxer-style engine, with two to four horizontally-opposed pistons. For the Motorrad Vision Next 100, that means the drive unit fits into a compact form when the bike is stopped, then expands out to the sides when moving. These side protrusions help protect the rider and positively affect aerodynamics.

Mercedes's Self-Driving Car

Global automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz's self driving car will choose to save the lives of its driver and passenger over the lives of pedestrians.

"If you know you can save at least one person, at least save that one. Save the one in the car,"

A man pulls his cellphone out of his pocket and hits a button. A glowing vehicle pulls up that looks like it was carved from a single block of silver. The door opens automatically, and the empty seat turns its driver, beckoning him with a tacit "get in." Who could resist?
special features
1. The four seats can face forward like a normal car, or they can turn to face one another, allowing you to socialize.
2.Touchscreen displays run along the interior edges. They allow you to plot your course, or pull up information of places you might visit on your journey.
3. A front and rear LED matrix can display messages, like "SLOW," to other drivers on the road, much like brake lights work today.
4. mounted a laser projector in the car’s grill, which projects a crosswalk telling a pedestrian they are safe to pass.

“You could sacrifice the car. You could, but then the people you’ve saved initially, you don’t know what happens to them after that,”Mercedes-Benz executive Christoph von Hugo said .“So you save the ones you know you can save.”
